There was no threat here--Blue knew Omega would never hurt her. She wanted, oh how she wanted, to fall back into his arms and disappear beneath the wave of their mutual desire, only emerging when the need for breath became too desperate to ignore. He would always keep her safe, Blue knew that.
Except--but he hadn't been with her, then.
Blue sighed and pulled away to sit up on the edge of the bed, long wet hair hiding her face as she lowered her head, hunched morosely. She'd assured him that day that she'd be fine, she'd be back in a few hours, and not to worry. Well, she'd broken those promises all to hell, hadn't she?
But she was not going to cry. Not in self-pity. No. So she bit her lip to quell its trembling, and swallowed a sniffle before it could escape. She'd tried to apologize to Owen, for what had happened. And she still owed another, didn't she.
It took her a few tries, mostly the effort to keep her voice steady, but Blue finally choked out, "I'm...so-sorry," to the floor, knowing her mate would hear and hoping he'd understand.
