Over fifteen years, to hear the doc tell it. Blue had always found stories of those days exceedingly amusing, if only to envision what her Alpha had been like all those years ago. But it wasn't so much that Gwen might disappear from their lives forever, as that anyone in the family would go and never come back. Back in Costa Rica, the Sword of Damocles--for the girls, especially Blue--was the horror that Owen might be somehow removed from the I.B.R.I.S. project and they'd never see him again.
That particular fear had hit home in Blue, recently.
"I don't think you'll fuck it up, Owen," she told him with a half-smile. Which faded shortly after. "I just...don't want anyone to go away, is all." Blue turned her head to look at the trees passing by again. "To go where we can't find them again, I mean." She absently chewed on a stray lock of long hair. "'cause we're family, and family should always be together."
Blue gave herself a mental shake; she'd promised herself she wouldn't dwell on the events of the past six weeks, damnit. So she veered off on another segue. "Dr. Gwen said you had a crush on her roommate, when you were in college. And that's why you kept pestering her during your Psychology class, kicking the back of her chair and stuff." She gave Owen an amused little arched eyebrow. "Did you really?"
