Yes, she remembered him lying with his head in her lap while she read. Happier times, those. Peaceful memories, lying hidden beneath the splintered chaos now infesting her mind. Blue smiled a little smile, tucking a stray lock of hair behind one ear.
Making up her mind--determined this time, damnit--she cleared her throat softly and slipped from her perch in the window, padding on bare feet over to her bed--their bed, it was theirs--gingerly curling one leg beneath her as she gently sat on its edge.
Not too close, but not impossibly away, either. She wanted so much for things to be as they were, where she wasn't afraid to burrow close into a possessive embrace, but instinctual fear still held her aloof. Nevertheless, she did have a responsibility to disclose. Blue fiddled with her fingers a bit, glancing up at her mate through dark lashes.
"Did you hear what Owen said earlier? He wants to take us to visit his dad, up in Montana. A 'change of scenery', or something like it." She stopped fiddling and propped up on one hand, gazing at him speculatively. "Would you want to go?"
